New York State Association of Magistrates Court Clerks, Inc.

MEMBERSHIP MESSAGE

Fellow clerks:

We are entering our new enrollment period for this calendar year – the New York State Association of Magistrates Court Clerks’ 32nd year. We are trying for a banner year! We want to increase our membership greatly, primarily with the non-members who have heard of the benefits of belonging to this prestigious Association. There were a handful of ladies who laid the groundwork for the start of the Association and I am happy to report that some of them are still active members.

All clerks are encouraged to submit their dues as soon as possible after receipt of the membership materials. For those clerks who do not receive the membership materials, please avail yourself of the enrollment forms on this website or in the DOCKET. The yearly dues for all clerks are $35.00; for retirees - $17.50. Please submit all payments to our Treasurer, Ramona Persan, 75 West Fairview Avenue, Valley Stream, NY  11580.

Those of you who attended any of the three major Conferences during 2011, the District trainings or your local Association meetings, will have firsthand knowledge of the educational benefits offered by the Association in conjunction with the State agencies.

Remember, you do not have to be the clerk of the court to join the Association; you must work as a court clerk and want the best source of information which will help you to better perform your duties as a court clerk.

The first training session for this calendar year is the Association of Towns’ Conference to be held in New York City February 20-22, 2012 for the court clerks. Classes this year will be held at the Hilton Hotel instead of the Sheraton Hotel.  Even if you will not be able to attend this session, please do not let this impact your enrollment in the Association.

Finally, all members in good standing are eligible to apply for scholarships to attend the conferences during a calendar year. You should not hesitate to contact the Scholarship Chairperson, Debbie Newham. The scholarship information also is included in the DOCKET. Last, but not least, I wish for each of you a very peaceful and prosperous New Year.
