President's Message

I don’t believe that time really “flies”, yet here it is 2012 already. 2011 was a year packed with changes in laws and procedures, busy Court schedules, our usual training/educational events as well as an increased number of Webcasts and more belt-tightening as we in the Court system worked with smaller budgets while still managing to maintain the same level of service. I am convinced that most Court Clerks could easily run General Motors if given the opportunity.

I am grateful that I have such a strong Board of Directors. Each of them has given liberally of their free time to ensure that our Association continues to provide the training and assistance that the Court Clerks have requested – whether at the three main training sites or at the District Trainings. We offered three scholarships for the Fall Conference in Niagara Falls in addition to offering scholarships for attendance at the training in Potsdam. The increased attendance at the District Trainings attests to the fact that the Court Clerks want training because we want to do our jobs correctly. We all realize that the better we are at our jobs, the more protection we offer to our judges and our towns/villages.

We continue to be especially proud of our magazine The Docket. Congratulations to Editor Janet Smith and her contributing staff. As the Northport Justice, the Honorable Paul Senzer, once said, “The Docket is filled with news you can use.” Lastly, but certainly not least, the Office of Justice Court Support and the Resource Center continue to offer invaluable assistance and guidance and we greatly appreciate these special people.
